Miriam & Greg Baumgartner

Near the end of Greg’s 20-year Navy career, he began dealing with persistent back problems. After retiring, he started looked for approaches that did not rely on long-term medication. During that search he discovered infrared sauna use.

What began as something personal quickly turned into deep research. Greg studied heater configurations, electrical systems, wood construction, and structural design across the infrared sauna market. It didn't take long to notice that build quality and system consistency varied greatly.

Instead of settling for what was available, he began developing a process under his own strict specifications.

Vital Health Saunas grew from that process — combining Greg's extensive background in health and wellness, with formal training in electronics and engineering. The goal has always been simple: design a sauna unit where every component works together with precise intention.

From the beginning, the focus was never on producing the most units. It was to build a sauna that functioned properly over years of daily use, and provide a wonderful customer experience.

For nearly two decades, the company remains owner-operated. Product lines are intentionally limited, specifications are tightly controlled, and final decisions are handled directly by phone.

Greg holds degrees in community services, health and wellness, electronics, and engineering. That foundation continues to shape the way each sauna is designed and finalized.

In Greg's words:

"I knew that by combining my experience in health and wellness with my training in engineering and electronics, I could approach sauna design with greater control and precision.

I didn't want to simply copy what was already being sold. I instead choose to rethink heater placement, electrical layout, and structural design so every component operated with consistency.

There are many infrared saunas on the market. Some are built quickly, for scale. I chose to build with tighter specifications and direct oversight.
